5 Emerging Tech You Should Look Out for in 2022

Knowing all the new trends is important because they shape the future. Now, buying Covid-19 test kits with digital currency has become a reality. As we move forward, more technological advancements will be introduced.

Considering this, we have compiled some emerging tech that may impact our daily life in ways such as:

  • How organizations work;
  • How schools will teach;
  • How families will meet; and
  • How you can explore the world.

So read on, get enlightenment, and join the wave of change.

In this article, you will get some insight and get to know more about:

  • Metaverse;
  • Blockchain;
  • Non-Fungible Tokens;
  • Virtual Reality; and
  • 5G.

Metaverse

By the end of 2021, Mark Zuckerberg rebranded Facebook as Meta. He explained in detail about Metaverse at the Connect 2021 conference.

Watch the conference:

As it may seem Metaverse will be a turning point, an evolution of the internet. Metaverse is a combination of virtual reality, technology, and augmented reality. Uniquely, the users will be able to create a digital universe, which will be real in the Metaverse.

If you’re a starter, you may be wondering if Metaverse is the next big step into the world of gaming. However, it’s much more than that.

Metaverse will change the way work is conducted. Just like modern-day games, it lets you create your avatars. But instead of just playing games, you can:

  • Meet friends or clients at a designated place
  • Communicate ideas
  • Select or discuss products or services

All these while not physically leaving your location. Metaverse brings endless possibilities to lead your life in an entirely different world. Metaverse is still in its early stages, and it’s raising expectations. So, it’s definitely the trend to know this year.

Blockchain

Although blockchain has been around for a while, it will continue to get the limelight in 2024 as well.

Since Elon Musk announced in January 2024 how people can now buy Tesla automobiles using Dogecoin, blockchain has retained its “talk of the town” status yet again.

For beginners, Dogecoin is a cryptocurrency just like Bitcoin and Ethereum. And to store these coins, you need a digital wallet. Your cryptocurrency wallet, digital transactions, and related information are stored on a decentralized system— blockchain.

Blockchain technology stores data in blocks. When they reach their maximum storage capacity, the blocks close. The block then forms a link with the previous block to create a chain.

Forming chains of records instead of tables is a unique way of storing data. Hence the method is widely used in various digital currencies, and non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

But that is not all! Blockchain’s potential to store data has opened doors to new ventures, like the blockchain-based publication Coruzant.

They’re able to store podcasts, articles, and magazines in digital blocks on computer nodes. These nodes are spread across different locations. To link these blocks, the company uses cryptography.

So, only the sender and receiver of the cryptographic code can view the information. This is how the data is secured, and cannot be edited by anyone.

You can learn about emerging tech in Coruzant, a crowdsourced technology publication. Its advisors and contributors represent authors, CEOs from Silicon Valley, celebrities, tech experts, tech startups, influencers, and CTOs from around the globe.

Non-Fungible Tokens

Without any shred of doubt, NFTs are the future!

Just like cryptocurrency, non-fungible tokens also rely on blockchain technology. However, they’re different from digital currency because they’re non-interchangeable.

Since each token has a unique identity, you can sell or trade your NFT token in the digital market.

Mostly, NFTs are images, audio, videos, and text sold over the internet. To maintain integrity, you must provide proof of ownership and a certificate of authenticity of the token.

Just months ago, the internet saw millions and millions spent over Jack Dorsey’s tweet, the flying cat, and the LeBron James shot by the NBA.

People can buy or sell NFTs without the need for a middle man. This means you don’t need a bank to verify and investigate the transaction. This is probably why it is becoming a great place to sell art.

It may seem like the game played by millionaires but there is much more to NFTs that doesn’t meet the eye. Others may argue, but NFT is going to change the future

Things like digital tagging, Web 3.0, NFT music, etc. will become common. And we might see more NFT celebrities like Teflon Sega in months to come.

Virtual Reality

It is an alternate reality created by simulation and technology. Virtual reality is an upgrade from our phones. When using our phones, we are experiencing and enjoying things from an outsider’s perspective.

But with virtual reality, the user is inside the immersive reality enjoying the experience. The notable names in the virtual reality arena are Oculus Rift, PlayStation VR, and HTC Vive.

Using virtual reality, the way we play games has evolved. But with Covid-19, it has taken a huge turn. VR is used as the main tool for military, aviation, and medical education teaching.

Recently, VR has been used to train pilots on how to fly planes in commercial airlines. Moreover, without using expensive or sensitive equipment, students are getting a complete learning experience.

It may sound restricting, but it is changing the face of education. Previously equipment that was of sensitive nature was never used for teaching and learning in real life. But with virtual reality, the interns are getting close to reality experience.

Similarly, medical students perform complex surgeries and see how each of their steps impacts life without endangering them.

Furthermore, VR is incorporated in treating post-traumatic stress disorders, chronic pain, mental illness, and therapies. Literally, the sky is the limit!

5G

3G and 4G have been part of the change for the last five decades. Using internet data services has changed learning, jobs, and life around us.

Since we are stepping into the virtual world dominated by augmented reality, you’re going to need 5G technology.

With 5G, we can heavily rely on speed and adaptability for augmented and virtual reality, cloud-based gaming, Google Stadia, NVidia GeForce, and a lot more.

With workplaces going virtual, HD cameras and VR kits will change the workplace dynamics, but only with the help of 5G.

Automobile industries are transforming with 5G, fixing the problems or issues of consumers remotely. In turn, reducing the time consumers have to wait for one-on-one appointments for minor issues.

Tech giants also see the future in technology; hence companies like Nokia Corp, Qualcomm, Apple, Tmobile, and Verizon are creating 5G applications.

It is anticipated that by 2024, 40% of the world’s mobile traffic will be shifted towards 5G.

Looking Ahead

Everything around us is changing at warp speed. The dynamic of life, education, work, entertainment, everything is not the same. Emerging tech is making it all-immersive, accessible, and manifesting.

Most of these technologies are at the very raw stage. Learning and getting knowledge about a particular subject may get one great job prospects.

Just like cryptocurrency, everyone has to join the change sooner or later. So why not jump on the moving train and enjoy the winds of change.
