Flexibility and Understanding
To most employees the workplace is just as important to their daily lives as their home is, after all, they are spending a large portion of their waking hours there. Yes, work is crucial to making a living, but we still need to be able to live, and there are times when work needs to take a back seat to the needs of the individual employee.
For example, if an employee has young children they need to get off to school, and then adjust their work start time accordingly. If someone calls in sick, never push them to come in anyway, be understanding, and accommodate their personal needs, everybody gets sick sometimes, we are all only human!
