Report from South Korea – The Elec, citing market intelligence firm UBI Research, said that Samsung is working hard to develop the S Pen stylus that works with the Galaxy Z Fold 3 next year.
Galaxy Z Fold 3 can apply AES and UTG technology that is thicker than Galaxy Z Fold 2
Because the foldable phone’s screen is not as durable as the screen of a conventional phone, Samsung is considering switching to Active Electrostatic (AES) digitalization for the Galaxy Z Fold 3. Previously, the Galaxy Note series used Electronic Resonance (EMR) digitization technology. When this technology is applied, the screen of the compatible device powers the pen. Therefore, the S Pen does not need a separate battery and this makes it thinner and lighter.
The problem with EMR technology is that it needs two separate digitizers for the finger and touch input. On the other hand, AES technology uses the same sensor as a touch sensor for both pen and finger input. Since the foldable screen is already quite complicated, it makes sense to just use one digitizer for the Galaxy Z Fold 3.
Not only that, UBI Research also claims that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will have a thicker ultra-thin (UTG) glass layer to withstand the pressure from the S Pen.
According to a previous report, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will be the first Samsung phone to have an under-display camera. Other details about this product are still quite limited but Samsung is clearly intending to make the Galaxy Z series its new flagship product line, and the Galaxy Z Fold 3 could be much superior to the Galaxy series. S21.
With the initial success of Galaxy Z Flip and Galaxy Z Fold 2, Galaxy Z Fold 3 is expected to bring positive feedback from the public although the selling price may still be very high.
